Zoo Osijek – what animals exist and what to expect

Zoo Osijek is located on the left side of the Drava River and occupies 11 hectares of space, it has a huge parking lot for cars. In order to reach the entrance to the ZOO, you need to pass by the ZOO Garden Hotel towards the Drava River. After that you have to pass along the river to the right where you will see the entrance gate from the picture below. Before entering the ZOO, you are required to pay a ticket that costs €4 for an adult, the cash register is right at the entrance gate on the left.

By purchasing a ticket, you get an invoice and a card with a QR Code and a unique code with which you get 3 hours of free WiFi, but there is a problem that the signal is very weak because it comes from a hotel that is quite far from the zoo. So the use of WiFi is not possible in the zoo, which is a small minus for tourists who do not have access to the Internet via mobile data.

After passing through the gate, you will see the scene from the picture below, where the road divides into the left (visiting large grains such as giraffes, bears, monkeys, lion, etc. (more on which all animals exist we will write below) and on the right the part where the aquarium is found).

Entering the Osijek Zoo

I chose the left path immediately to meet larger animals. Before the visit itself, I did not research about the Zoo in Osijek and I did not know which animals to expect. After returning home, proceeding to the pleasant surprise that I met for this weekend, I came up with the idea to describe this zoo in detail, so that I give readers the opportunity and intrigue them more to visit this city, which offers a lot Despite this beautiful zoo.

Immediately at the entrance you will meet the animal Red Vrati Valabi Pictures below.

When you continue on the left path, you will meet the giraffe, which intrigued me the most because I am meeting it for the first time.

other animals

Below are pictures of other animals, and my recommendation is to visit otters, because in my opinion, the most interesting animals in this zoo are, people’s visits are happy and they are very interesting to watch.

aquarium

If you head to this zoo, be sure to visit the aquarium on the right at the entrance. They have beautiful aquariums with a lot of fish. A small complaint is that they have few snakes and lizards.

Animals that can be seen

In the pictures below, there are photographed animals that you can see and that may not have been photographed during my tour because they were hidden or were impossible to photograph.

Conclusion

I visited the entire zoo in Osijek, and the tour lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes, with the fact that I devoted time to each animal, and that I observed the behavior of each animal. In the zoo, there is a toilet located near the aquarium, and it is not in a very nice condition, which is a small minus, there is an educational center next to the toilet, which is also a small minus and these two should be separate.

On the day of the tour, the temperature was low, and many animals were hidden in their ‘houses’, so I could not see at least 30% of the total number of animals. Another small minus is that the distance between the cages and the observer is somehow too large, somehow the safety fence is placed away from the animals, so sometimes it is difficult to see an animal up close. Also a better choice for cages would be glass instead of wire, because the view would be more bile and taking photos would be easier.
