Đorđe David is a famous Serbian rock musician and actor. Born as Đorđe Nikolić in 1964 in Zemun, he wrote the history of musical life in a legendary group Generation 5 and the band Fuzzboxand today he leads a rock band Death Saw. In parallel with music, he also built an acting career: he appeared in films such as ‘Šmeker’ and ‘Cursed Dog’, and in TV series such as ‘Doctor in the Selo’ and ‘Vuk Karadžić’. Early life and education
Đorđe grew up in Belgrade, where he graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts as a teenager in the class of prof. Predrag Bajčetić. Although he was struck by a family tragedy early on – his father died in a traffic accident when Đorđe was 14 years old – he managed to continue his education and devote himself to art. He finished his acting studies in the 1980s, and at the same time he sang in the school choir and played the piano. In the interview, he admitted that he must behave strictly and justly at the Grand, even though he is a rather calm man in private. B92 described him as ‘the only rocker in the Zvezda Grand jury’, which further emphasizes his uniqueness in that music-television format. Đorđe David lives in Belgrade, where he grew up. He is married to student Ana Mirčetić – Ana is 18 years younger – and they have a daughter, Staša, born in 2014. Despite his 201 cm height and somewhat rebellious image, he is known among his colleagues as a polite and considerate man. In the interviews, he points out that music and acting give him the meaning of life, and he does not hide that he is grateful that he left the thorny path of youth (from the fall into the wrong societies to success) behind him and came out of everything alive and well.
