Life in modern times has become too fast, the feeling of preoccupation rules every person, we carry countless information in our thoughts, whether it is useful or not. One feels bored when his brain is not occupied with some things, whether it is a mobile phone, some fun things, television or some other item. Today, boredom is considered an enemy to man, but it is actually a good thing that can happen.
Boredom encourages creativity
If a person feels a state of boredom, then these feelings lead him to some distraction in order to move that boredom from his thinking. In this way, the brain is occupied with an action, whether it is a mobile phone or television. If a person responds to that feeling in a different way, and instead of the mentioned media, he occupy the brain with the creation of his own ideas, at that moment there is room for creativity.
Many writers and scientists have admitted that they actually created their greatest achievements and works out of a sense of boredom. Psychologists James Danchert and Erin Westgate They point out that boredom can be a motivating factor towards completing our tasks. It is important to use the feeling of boredom in something positive such as:
- write a text
- draw something
- solve a problem
- come up with some new idea
It is precisely in the moments when we are bored and when we do not have any distractions, the brain turns to internal thinking, and sometimes some old ideas and memories are activated. Boredom stops us for a moment, and makes us listen to our thoughts and open the door to new possibilities. It is in those moments that we should accept boredom as a positive state of mind, and accept boredom as a solution, because boredom is an opportunity for our self-exploration.

So think about the next time you feel bored, use it in a positive way, and instead of taking up your cell phone screen, ask yourself what I can do at this moment:
- to come up with a new story or poem, and write it on paper
- to start writing a diary, or a blog
- To explore a new skill
- to make a budget plan for next week
- To do a couple of physical exercises
The idea is full, so next time think about using the feeling of boredom correctly and not to perceive it as an enemy.
Boredom helps you get to know yourself better
In moments of boredom, when there are no external distractions, the person remains lonely with his thoughts. That feeling may bring with it a feeling of discomfort, but in fact it is a good thing, because in those moments you can hear the speech of your thoughts, especially if we are alone in the room and if we are in silence.
Man should occasionally be alone, even though we are social beings and we should listen to other people’s opinions and ideas, but sometimes a person actually has to talk to himself. In moments when a person is alone, he best understands his opinions and emotions, then a person can tell himself in which direction his life should go, he can actually understand what he lacks in life and what he no longer needs to allow him to eat his life like a weed. When we are alone, the external voices become quieter, then the inner voice is activated and in those moments we stop listening to the answers from the outside and begin to find solutions from the inside of our mind.
However, the state of rest and hearing of inner thoughts cannot always be positive, because then we can also face negative things that we suppressed and avoided once upon a time. In those moments, we can choose again to push these thoughts further into the past, or to face them and find a solution. Certainly a better option is to find a solution, because if we solve the problem, then we create room for personal growth.
Dealing with negative thoughts can sometimes be painful, but only then can we relieve our thoughts from past negative experiences. When we decide not to give up on our negative thoughts, then we strengthen our thinking and restore control over life. When, in moments of boredom, we decide to move towards solving our inner problems, then we discover a better version of ourselves, and then we have the opportunity to lay a good foundation for a better future that we all want.
The brain needs rest
Just as every part of the body needs rest after some hard physical work, the brain also needs rest. When we have a feeling of boredom, then the brain takes a break, sorts our information in the same way that the hard disk in the computer fragments files and sorts by category. Sometimes it is necessary to arrange information in the right places in the brain, but if the brain is constantly busy and occupied, sometimes with unimportant and unnecessary information, then there is no time to do what it knows best, connect, remember and create new values.

In the moments when we give the brain time to rest, to sort out information, then we have the potential to give time to our creativity to come to the fore. Because of this, many people experience a feeling of inspiration in those moments when they are most relaxed. Sometimes you don’t even need complete relaxation, it can also be a daily routine in which you don’t need too much mental preoccupation, such as walking, running or even taking a shower.
Creativity never comes when we force it, when we wait for it, when we look for it, it actually arrives in those moments when the brain is at rest. When we are freed from daily stress, when we do some routine activities, the brain has the opportunity to find incredible solutions and some new ideas completely spontaneously. The best idea can come in those moments when we stop thinking about problems, that’s the reason why the brain is not under stress, when we don’t expect anything from the brain and actually get everything.
How to take advantage of boredom
Every person in today’s time has an ugly habit of occupying his brain with unnecessary information in moments of boredom. When we feel bored, we mostly reach for a cell phone or television, but we should actually react differently to the feeling of boredom, because it is the moment to distance ourselves from daily stress and to listen to inner thoughts. We must allow the brain to analyze everyday situations, to find a solution to our problems, to process everything that is accumulated in it.
Below are a couple of ideas that you can use in a state of boredom:
- Write a diary – Occupy your thoughts by writing, write down everything that comes to your mind.
- Draw, draw or make sketches – Even if you think you have no talent for drawing, try, express your thoughts through drawings.
- Go for a walk without music and cell phones – Allow nature to surround you, brighten your thoughts and allow your mind to rest.
- Meditate and listen to silence – In this way, you can relax and focus your focus on the present moment.
- Arrange a room or organize the space around you – Based on physical cleansing, you can mentally clear your mind.
- Talk to yourself, stand in front of a mirror – Ask yourself a few questions, and very important ones, such as ‘what are my goals in life’ and try to find solutions, write them down very importantly and put them in a visible place so that they remind you of your goal every day.
- Start a new hobby – Give yourself a chance to try something new, even if at that moment it sounded like putting together a puzzle, try it anyway.
- Practice conversations with people – Every person has a problem with this, try to practice talking without stuttering or using ‘aa’ or ‘mind’.
- Learn a new language – Give yourself a chance to learn a new language or to visit an already learned language.
- Read the book – Reading not only expands knowledge, it can take you beyond everyday problems and thinking.
- Make a plan for the future – Think about your goals in life, remind yourself what your primary goal is and make a plan to fulfill it.
Each of these activities can help you turn your sense of boredom into something creative and give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge.
